Retailers on the Move: November 2015

Updates for Circle K, CrossAmerica, CST, E-Z Mart, Global, GPM, Kroger, Leizler, Reid

MESA, Ariz. --The staff of CSPedia, Winsight's online encyclopedia of convenience-store chains, gathers news and insights and updates the listings for the nearly 500 retailers in its database on a daily basis. CSPedia delivers a monthly summary of these reports, often news not yet announced publicly, to its subscribers.

Nancy Riggs Kroger Quik Stop

Here is a collection of some of the people updates from Nov. 2015:

  • Boyett Petroleum. CEO Carl Stanton Boyett died suddenly Nov. 8 at the age of 70. He was an active industry leader who had also served as president of SIGMA. Boyett Petroleum is a family-owned and - operated company in Modesto, Calif. His son Dale Boyett is president of the company. The chain has 40 retail sites under the brands Cruisers and Kwik Serv.
  • Circle K Gulf Coast. Bob Richardson has joined Circle K's Gulf Coast business unit as tobacco category manager. He moved to Circle K from E-Z Mart, where he also managed the tobacco category. Circle K Gulf Coast owns and operates more than 600 stores.
  • CrossAmerica Partners LP (CST Brands). Management team updates include Clay Killinger, CFO; Steve Lattig, vice president of integration and development; Steve Mercurio, vice president of wholesale West; and Hamlet Newsom, vice president and general counsel. CrossAmerica owns and operates about 100 sites and leases about 1,000.
  • E-Z Mart. Management changes at the Texarkana, Texas, chain include Gary Phillips, vice president of foodservice; and David Rolf, director of maintenance, construction and purchasing. Category manager James Culp now manages the tobacco category.
  • Global Partners LP. Jeff Popper has joined Global Partners as chief marketing officer. He previously was vice president of global marketing and strategy for Hasbro for 14 years. Aric Morrison, former director of marketing and operations, is no longer with the company. Dave Iavarone is category marketing manager for dispensed beverages, sweet snacks and hot dogs. He joined Global Partners from Hess Corp.
  • GPM Investments. Mike Emmons is senior vice president of operations for the chain's Midwest territory. Jack Lewis is category manager for beverages. The company has been growing through acquisition and continues to add stores.
  • Kroger Convenience/Quik Stop. Nancy Riggs has been named vice president of Kroger Co.'s Quik Stop convenience-store division, based in Fremont, Calif. Quik Stop owns or franchises 100 stores in California and Nevada. The Kroger Co.'s convenience division operates nearly 800 stores under five brands.
  • Leiszler Oil Co. Natalie Leiszler has joined the company as director of foodservice. The family-owned company operates 16 stores in Kansas branded Short Stop.
  • Reid Stores Inc. (Crosby's). Dan Okun has joined the Lockport, N.Y., chain as director of sales and marketing.
