Sheetz Finalizes Plans in St. Marys, Pa.

Purchases downtown properties to build new store

ALTOONA, Pa. -- Sheetz Inc. has announced the construction of a new convenience store in St. Marys, Pa. The company has already completed the purchase of several properties in the downtown area of St. Marys. Sheetz real estate representatives finalized the deal on October 30.

The company will immediately begin demolition of the site along with other preliminary site preparations. Construction of the new store will start in the spring of 2007.

The 4,700 sq.-ft. red brick building will be modeled after the new generation-style stores [image-nocss] the company has been building since 2004. The construction project also includes significant roadway and intersection improvements.

Sheetz representatives were pleased to work with Governor Ed Rendell's office, St. Marys City Manager, Dave Greene and Warren Stewart from the St. Marys Redevelopment Authority. "This process could not have been successful without the assistance of the governor's office and these city officials," said real estate attorney John Kachur of Sheetz. "We were able to acquire the necessary property to build there, and it has been a pleasure doing business in that part of the state."

This new location will be the 15th in the areas of Elk, Jefferson and Clearfield counties. District Manager Joanne Bennett of Brockway will oversee operations of the store.

Sheetz is looking forward to joining the business community in St. Marys, an idea that's been goal for a long time. "We are very excited to come to St. Marys," said Joe S. Sheetz, executive vice president of store development for Altoona, Pa.-based Sheetz. "We have very loyal customers in the St. Marys area so we're happy we can serve them in their hometown."

Sheetz operates 329 convenience locations throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio and North Carolina.
