Sheetz Names New HR VP

Hoover succeeds the departing Freeman

ALTOONA, Pa. -- Phil Freeman, vice president of human resources for Sheetz Inc., has announced he is stepping down after 19 years of service. "It was a difficult decision to leave Sheetz, but I've decided to take some time to pursue other career opportunities and interests," said Freeman. "Everything I know about running a business the right way, I've learned here at Sheetz. I am so appreciative of everything this company has done for me professionally and personally."

Freeman began his career with Sheetz in 1988 as corporate controller in the finance department. He served in that role [image-nocss] until 1996, when he was promoted to vice president and controller. In 2000, Freeman assumed leadership over the HR department.

Manager of internal communications, Stephanie Hoover, will step into Freeman's role as the new head of human resources. Hoover brings seven years of Sheetz experience to the position. She began her career at Sheetz as manager of HR for CLI Transport, Sheetz' dedicated fuel carrier.

"Stephanie brings a wealth of knowledge and ability to her new role," said Stan Sheetz, president and CEO of Sheetz. "We'll miss Phil terribly, but we're excited to begin a new chapter of growth with Stephanie's leadership in Human Resources."

In 2003, Hoover accepted the position of manager of internal communications for Sheetz. Last year, she took on the additional role of leader of the brand strategy department and became a member of the Sheetz strategic planning team, responsible for the long-term planning for the company.

Altoona, Pa.-based Sheetz, with more than $3.9 billion in revenue for 2007 and more than 11,000 employees, operates more than 340 convenience locations throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio and North Carolina.
