Sheetz to Open Latest C-Restaurant

Party, donation to scouts kicks off Danville, Pa., debut

DANVILLE, Pa. -- Sheetz Inc. is opening a new 6,000-sq.-ft. convenience store in Danville, Pa., on August 31. The store features the company's convenience restaurant concept, launched early this year.

The chain's 65 local employees will host a private dignitary reception and ribbon-cutting ceremony the evening before the store opens to the public. As part of the grand opening, the company will make a $2,000 donation to the Boy Scouts of America, Columbia-Montour Council.

"We are thrilled to bring our newest concept in convenience [image-nocss] to Danville," said Louie Sheetz, executive vice president of marketing for the chain. "And we are equally thrilled to partner with the Boy Scouts as a symbol of our connection to the community."

The new Sheetz location will offer customers a fun, high-energy restaurant-style atmosphere. A red brick exterior welcomes area residents into a bright interior with high ceilings and seating for more than 40 people. Once inside customers will experience digital menu boards that show food selections, which can be easily and quickly ordered at electronic touch-screen order kiosks.

"The Danville location is our vision for the future," said Sheetz. "We have blended the best from our convenience restaurants with what our customers have told us they want from a convenience retailer to create a unique destination that easily fits into everyday life."

Sheetz's menu, prepared in an open-kitchen environment, includes a variety of made-to-order items, many of which were first introduced at the companys convenience restaurant concepts located in Altoona, Pa., and Raleigh, N.C. In Danville, customers will find cold and toasted subz, paninis, hand-tossed saladz, and brick-oven pizza. Also added is a fryz menu, including onion rings and chicken fingers, a Kidz menu and the Sheetz Bros. Coffeez Espresso Bar staffed by a professional barista.

New convenience items include a self-serve bakery, bulk candy and peanut dispensers, cold "grab 'n go" case, Teazzer iced tea and self-serve milk shakes.

Customers can also place their food order from touchscreen terminals located at the gas island while fueling with Sheetz's 100%-guaranteed petroleum products with the added convenience of cash or credit pay-at-the-pump on all fuel purchases.

Sheetz has also installed MasterCard PayPass systemwide. It allows customers to tap their PayPass-enabled card on a specially equipped terminal eliminating the need for customers to hand over their card to a merchant or manually swipe it through a reader.

Altoona, Pa.-based Sheetz operates more than 300 convenience locations throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio and North Carolina.
