Recognizes for positive contribution to economic growth, well-being of the region

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Convenience-store retailer Stewart’s Shops has been selected for the Industry of the Year Award by the Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce. The award recognizes a business for positive contribution to economic growth and well-being of the region.

Business Award

In 2015, Stewart's Shops built four new convenience stores across Fulton and Montgomery Counties in New York to replace existing locations--Northville, Palatine Bridge, Fort Plain and Johnstown. In Johnstown, it replaced a building that sat vacant for decades. In 2014, the company also moved to a new, larger location in Perth.

"We also are continuing to remodel and improve our existing stores to serve our customers even better," the company said." "We take pride in giving back to our communities, donating to local charities at our grand opening events and throughout the year."

The retailer added that next month, it is being recognized for its contribution to the new outpatient pavilion at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, N.Y.

Stewart’s Shops and related family foundations support local charities, donating $7.5 million annually.

Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-based Stewart's Shops operates more than 330 convenience stores in New York and Vermont and has annual sales of approximately $1.6 billion.
