United Fuel & Energy Appoints COO

Juliano joins fuel distributor

MIDLAND, Texas -- United Fuel & Energy Corp., a distributor of gasoline, diesel, propane and lubricant products to customers in the Southwest and Southcentral United States, said that on March 30, 2008, the company hired Joseph Juliano as its executive vice president and COO.

Since 2005, Juliano has served as president of PNEC Corp., a distributor of heating oil, gas, diesel, lubricants and alternative fuels in the Pacific Northwest. From 2004 until 2005, Juliano served as vice president of PNEC. From 2002 until joining PNEC in 2004, he served as a territory sales manager for Southern [image-nocss] Counties Lubricants LLC, a distributor of lubricants in California, doubling the territory sales volume and increasing gross margin by 100% over a two-year period.

Juliano is the son-in-law of United Fuel & Energy's chairman, Frank P. Greinke.

"As the president of PNEC, Joe transformed the organization into a top-performing operation, restructured and streamlined the business units, increased its profitability and market share and generated double-digit EBITDA growth," said Chuck McArthur, United Fuel & Energy's president and CEO.

United Fuel & Energy, headquartered in Midland, Texas, is engaged in the business of distributing gasoline, diesel, propane and lubricant products primarily in certain markets of Texas, California, New Mexico, Arizona and Oklahoma. United Fuel represents the consolidation of numerous companies, including the Eddins-Walcher Co. and Cardlock Fuels System.

The company currently engages in cardlock operations, wholesale fuels and lubricants to commercial customers and propane distribution to commercial and residential users. It conducts its operations through more than 25 branch locations and more than 100 unattended fueling sites.

United Fuel & Energy said that it intends to continue to expand its business through strategic acquisitions and organic growth initiatives.
