Erickson Oil Expands JobApp Rollout

System helps reduce turnover, allows for standardized hiring
HUDSON, Wis. -- Erickson Oil Products Inc.'s wholly owned subsidiary, Freedom Valu Center convenience stores, is using JobApp Network, a web- and interactive voice response (IVR)-based hiring solution for high-volume and hourly employers to help reduce turnover. The retailer has seen a 41% reduction using this system, it said.

Freedom Valu Center consists of 65 privately-held, family-owned c-stores located in Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota and Michigan. Erickson Oil made a decision to expand its agreement with JobApp Network to include all 65 locations after a successful [image-nocss] initial rollout.

Erickson Oil selected JobApp Network to reduce turnover and improve both the customer and employee experience. Additionally, Freedom Valu sought a single partner that would also be able to deliver fully integrated assessments, background checks and employee tax credit screening and processing. JobApp Network provided a complete phone and web-based hiring solution for Freedom Valu. By using JobApp, Freedom Valu can improve its competitive hiring advantages, screen and score applicants 24/7 by web and phone and streamline its background check and onboarding processes.

During the initial six-month rollout, which included 40 locations, Freedom Valu stores experienced a 41% reduction in turnover, the company said. At the 25 stores that were not included in the initial rollout, employee turnover slightly increased during the same period.

"We are extremely excited about the results of the initial rollout and are looking forward to a strong partnership that will allow us to utilize the efficiencies offered by JobApp within all Freedom Valu stores. The ability for managers to easily view and sort only qualified applicants has proven to be a real time-saver for our store managers. JobApp has also allowed us to standardize our hiring practices at these locations," said Pat Zik, human resources coordinator for Erickson Oil/Freedom Valu.

Blake Helppie, CEO of JobApp Network Inc., said, "JobApp has again proven to be effective not only with organizations and locations that hire large numbers of employees, but even small-box retailers that hire as few as 8-10 employees per year."

The Troy, Mich.-based company provides a subscription-based, automated phone- and web-based solution for employers with hourly employees. JobApp uses patented services to source, screen and score future employees, streamlining the hiring process, improving the quality of hire and reducing turnover. JobApp's integrated talent acquisition and services platform includes background checks, tax credit screening and processing, electronic I-9 and W-4 management and more.
