New IT Contract for 7-Eleven Stores in Canada

Unisys to provide support services to 470 outlets

TORONTO -- Unisys Corp. has announced that its Canadian subsidiary, Unisys Canada, has won a contract from NEC Corp. of America to provide outsourced IT support services for 470 7-Eleven retail convenience stores throughout Canada. The Unisys contract is valued at approximately $6 million (U.S.) over a three-year term. NEC Corp. of America is the prime contractor in the engagement, managing applications development and support for 7-Eleven Inc.

Under the terms of the agreement, Unisys Canada will provide maintenance and support services for IT backoffice equipment, onsite wireless networks, [image-nocss] point-of-sale (POS) and inventory ordering systems for the 470 Canadian 7-Eleven retail stores from Ontario to British Columbia. In addition, Unisys will provide deployment services for new systems that 7-Eleven rolls out to its stores.

"Unisys outsourcing expertise combined with NEC's retail solution integration skills will assist us in growing our 7-Eleven business in Canada," said Sharon Stufflebeme, 7-Eleven's chief information officer. "We'll be able to serve our customers more effectively and efficiently through enhanced in-store technology support."

As part of a global alliance between the two companies, Unisys is the preferred provider of technology support and maintenance services for NEC in markets outside Japan.

Based in Dallas, 7-Eleven operates, franchises or licenses approximately 7,600 7-Eleven stores in North America. It operates, franchises or licenses more than 34,300 stores in 14 countries. During 2007, 7-Eleven stores worldwide generated total sales of more than $46.6 billion.

Santa Clara, Calif.-based NEC is a major provider of Internet, broadband network and enterprise business solutions.
