PCATS Hall of Fame to Induct Hartman, Gerke
Retailer, consultant honored for technology activities
ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- Scott Hartman, president and CEO of York, Pa.-based Rutter's Farm Stores, and Gene Gerke, president of Columbia, Mo.-based Gerke & Associates Inc., have been named the latest inductees into the PCATS (Petroleum Convenience Alliance for Technology Standards) Technology Hall of Fame.
Hartman and Gerke will be inducted at The Tech Event, which will take place May 6 to 10 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas.
Hartman has been active in the technology industry since 1995 when he became involved with the NACS Technology Standards Project, which ultimately led to the creation of PCATS in 2004. PCATS was integrated into NACS in 2010. Hartman was 2005-06 NACS chairman and served two terms as PCATS chairman. He also served as NACS' vice chairman of research and development, chairman of the Technology Committee and chairman of the Technology Standards Steering Committee.
Gerke also was an original member of the NACS Technology Standards Project team, as well as a co-founder of CSX LLC, the largest purpose-built, online database of financial and operating data in the industry. NACS acquired CSX in 2007. Gerke's management consulting firm advises clients in areas including technology implementation and technology standards.
The Tech Event is a major source for technology education, information and solutions benefitting the convenience and fuel retailing industry. The week-long event combines the networking and educational offerings of the previous NACStech event and the PCATS Annual Conference into one event, adding leadership and innovation components.
The Tech Event also will feature a Supplier Exchange, allowing convenience and fuel retailers to connect with the industry's top technology solution providers in a casual and flexible setting.
The PCATS Technology Hall of Fame was established in 2011. Previous inductees were Teri Richman, John Hervey, Greg Gilkerson, Bob Johnson and Brad McGuiness.
Founded in 1961 as the National Association of Convenience Stores, NACS is the international association for convenience and fuel retailing. The U.S. convenience store industry, with more than 149,000 stores across the country, posted $681 billion in total sales in 2011, of which $486 billion were motor fuels sales. NACS has 2,200 retail and 1,600 supplier member companies that do business in nearly 50 countries.
