Tedeschi Gets MegaPath MPLS Network Upgrade

Improves customer service, credit-card data protection, HQ-store communications

ROCKLAND, Mass. -- Tedeschi Food Shops Inc. has completed a mulitiprotocol label switching (MPLS) network upgrade by MegaPath Corp., a provider of managed data, voice, security and hosted IT services in North America. With this upgrade, MegaPath is providing the retailer with seamless communications capabilities between its headquarters and stores.

"We were already using MegaPath for our network and we knew the team there shared our high standards for customer service. When we wanted to move forward with this major bandwidth boost, MegaPath was the logical choice for a scalable, full-featured, and cost-effective solution," said Doug New, chief information officer for Tedeschi. "Now, with MegaPath's Ethernet over Copper, T1 and DSL, we have a high-performance, cost-effective MPLS network solution in place that will enable us to deliver the best customer experience possible, while also enabling compliance with industry regulations."

Dan Foster, president of business markets for MegaPath, said, "As an active member of the PCI Security Standards Council, the team at MegaPath has an in-depth understanding of the requirements and challenges that retailers face to maintain compliance with corporate and industry regulations. That knowledge, combined with our high-performance MPLS network capabilities, enables customers like Tedeschi Food Shops to purchase our network and compliance services with the confidence that they have a reliable data connection to run their business and their sensitive corporate and customer data will remain secure."

MegaPath's MPLS network solution for Tedeschi uses a mix of Ethernet, T1 and DSL to enable Tedeschi to easily communicate between its headquarters and its store locations. The MegaPath solution enables the retailer to transmit emails, streamline order processing, send information for promotional materials to its stores, provide greater access to information and reporting services, and perform various other functions. In addition, the services allow for "grow as you go" speed enhancements to meet Tedeschi's future demands, resulting in a lower total cost of ownership of technology.

Tedeschi has also implemented the MegaPath PCI Compliance Coverage package to address logging, transaction processing and other credit/debit sales mandates from the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). This offering enables MegaPath's retail customers to easily address the challenging PCI mandates and ensure that they are operating within industry regulations. In addition, it features Fortinet Unified Threat Management (UTM) solutions to deliver industry-leading protection, with Software as a Service (SaaS) options for Tedeschi that cover specific security requirements, company policies and regulatory directives.
