Pops Mart Fuels LLC has expanded its footprint of convenience stores into Wisconsin with the acquisition of two travel centers and the wholesale fuel, transportation and dealer businesses of Scully Oil, Lyndon Station, Wisconsin.

  • Pops Mart is No. 171 in CSP’s 2023 Top 202 ranking of c-store by total number of company-owned retail outlets.

Pops Mart Fuels, based in Columbia, South Carolina, operates more than 42 stores in the South Carolina and North Carolina markets.

“It is exciting to add to our Wisconsin convenience stores and wholesale fuel business with the addition of Scully Oil,” said Don Draughon, CEO of Pops Mart.

Family owned and operated since 1932, Scully Oil was a third-generation commercial and residential fuel supplier. For more than 91 years, Scully Oil has supplied an assortment of petroleum products to homes, farms, convenience stores and industrial facilities.

Jeff Scully, president of Scully Oil, who has been involved with the business since childhood, said he has enjoyed all the opportunities from driving the trucks and delivering the fuel and petroleum products to building and operating travel centers since becoming involved with the family business; however, with no one in the family interested in continuing to be involved in the transportation of fuel and c-stores, the timing was right to step away and pursue other interests.

American Business Brokers & Advisors, Fort Myers Beach, Florida, provided merger-and-acquisition advisory services to Scully Oil and Pops Mart Fuels, which included valuation advisory, marketing the business through a confidential process and negotiation of the transaction. Terry Monroe, president of American Brokers & Advisors, managed the transaction.
