CHICAGO — They started coming into the CSP newsroom in early spring: Halloween candy products that will help retailers and consumers recognize a possible full return to trick or treating and the related seasonal activities.

This year’s Halloween-edition Skittles from Mars Inc. is dubbed Skittles Shriekers. On shelves now, the new packs “will shock taste buds with frightfully sour surprises hidden among the rest in every pack,” the company said. Skittles Shriekers come in five flavors in each pack: Citrus Scream, Ghoulish Green Apple, Rattled Raspberry, Shocking Lime and Spine-Tingling Tangerine. Shriekers are available in 1.8-ounce single packs, 3.6-ounce Share Size and 10-ounce Medium Funsize Laydown Bags.
Louisville, Ky.-based CandyRific launched new Glow-in-the-Dark Graveyard Hunt bags, as well Light-up Safety Wands to serve as packaging and trick-or-treating accessories. The glow-in-the-dark skulls are filled with assorted pressed-dextrose candies, available in 20 skulls per bag and six bags per case for a suggested price of $5.99 per bag.
CandyRific’s Day of the Dead Halloween Expressions Fans have a light-up hub and foam fan blades that glow in the dark. Each comes with 0.53 ounces of assorted fruit-flavored dextrose candies. Its M&M’s Tube Fans are topped with jack-o-lanterns. Each contains M&M’s Fun Size Milk Chocolate Candies (0.46 ounces). Each are available in 12-count display cases, SRP $5.99 per fan.
And CandyRific’s Halloween Light-Up Safety Wand has a bright orange LED light that pulses when the button is pushed and includes a breakaway safety lanyard. Each wand comes with 0.53 ounces of assorted fruit-flavored dextrose candies. SRP $3.99 each. Available in two, 12-count display cases.
