BATTLE CREEK, Mich. -- The Kellogg Co. is voluntarily recalling certain varieties and limited dates of production of Mother's, Keebler, Murray and Famous Amos snacks and cookies and Kellogg's Special K brownies because they may contain undeclared peanut residue, according to the company.
The recall is not related to the convenience-store channel, a spokesperson for Kellogg told CSP Daily News.
Kellogg initiated the recall after its supplier, Grain Craft, recalled wheat flour that has the potential to contain low levels of peanut residue.
While consumers with severe peanut allergies should avoid the recalled products, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has said that the amount of peanut exposure from the flour is low and not expected to cause adverse health effects in the vast majority of peanut-allergic consumers.
The company to date has received no reports of related illness and is taking this action out of an abundance of caution, it said.

The snack maker is asking that consumers who purchased affected products discard them and contact the company for a full refund.
