That’s It. Fruit Bars Now Available … in Space

Gluten-free, vegan and kosher, new snacks made from pure fruit. That’s it.

LOS ANGELES -- As astronauts boarded the International Space Station this week, they had with them a fruit bar from Earth: That’s it. fruit bars. After being tested at NASA’s food lab, That’s it. bars were cleared for launch on a cargo mission to the ISS, making them “out of this world.”

That’s it. only uses two ingredients, both of which are pure fruit, The products also have an 18-month, lab-verified shelf life and are resistant to temperature changes. Aboard the Space Station are two flavors—Apple + Apricot and Apple + Banana—providing a convenient way for astronauts to intake daily servings of real fruit.

According to NASA officials, astronauts get a certain amount of discretionary cargo allocated for their flight and can include nonstandard food items. NASA food lab scientists then perform a routine check to see if any preservation steps need to be taken or if the food is suitable for zero-g flight.

After being cleared, That’s it. bars were launched into space accompanied by over 7,000 pounds of cargo, research equipment and other crew supplies.

“It’s exhilarating to think our product will actually be in orbit, providing a daily serving of fruit to an astronaut,” said That’s it. founder Lior Lewensztain. “This is a tremendous application of our vision to improve the quality of life worldwide by making fruit and its benefits accessible everywhere—now even in space.”
