CEFCO Contributes $15,000 to University

Endows C.E. Fikes Scholarship

TEMPLE, Texas -- CEFCO Convenience Stores recently contributed $15,000 to establish the C.E. Fikes (CEFCO) Endowed Scholarship at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, Belton, Texas.

CEFCO Convenience Stores have been operating in Central Texas since 1979. The company has accomplished its goal of service to their customers and community by contributing thousands of dollars in support of the Children's Miracle Network and now by supporting student scholarships.

The endowed scholarship is named in honor of C.E. Fikes. Fikes, a native [image-nocss] of Cameron, Texas, was the founder of Temple, Texas-based Fikes Wholesale Inc., the holding company for CEFCO Convenience Stores, Fleet Fuel, Sunbelt Ice Co., CORD Financial Services and Group Petroleum Service.

Fikes Wholesale is a family-owned company comprised of seven distinct business units. Its petroleum products marketing business distributes fuel to commercial and retail accounts through strategic relationships with ExxonMobil, Shell, ChevronTexaco, CITGO and Valero. Its convenience retailing business markets through anetwork of more than 70 CEFCO-branded c-stores. Sunbelt Ice is an ice manufacturing and distribution business that serves more than 200 accounts throughout Central Texas. CORD Financial Services is an ATM placement and processing unit that services more than 750 U.S. locations. Group Petroleum Services is a transportation business that consists of nine fuel delivery trucks. And its JF Air Traffic charter airline service operates through a partnership with Raytheon Aircraft Charter.

Fikes Wholesale has been in business for more than 50 years and currently employs more than 700 people.
