CSP Launches New Charity Effort

CARRE Foundation to spotlight causes near and dear to the industry

OAK BROOK, Ill. -- CSP Information Group has announced the formation of its charitable alliance of retail and restaurant executives, the CARREFoundation.

The CARRE Foundation will spotlight charitable causes that industry executives are passionate about, with the goal of fostering stronger relationships and support within the retail community.

This is an all-out effort to provide those in need in the industry with as much charitable giving as we as a group can muster, said CSP president Paul Reuter. How many lives can we touch? [image-nocss] How much money can we give away? We're not sure, but what I am sure about is that the same innovation, passion and teamwork that we bring to CSP are what we all will bring to CARRE.

The CARRE Foundation's primary support will go to assist others suffering from disabilities, disease, illness and hardship, and to the development of programs that extol the virtues of leadership.

To lead this challenge, honorary co-chairs will serve to launch the foundation during the Outlook Leadership conference to be held September 24-26 in Phoenix. The co-chairs are Michael Sherlock, director of foodservice for Wawa Inc., and Joe Burke, vice president of Retail Industry Affairs for Coca-Cola North America.

In anticipation of the foundation launch, Burke and Sherlock offered these thoughts in a letter to conference attendees: At Outlook Leadership, we tackle issues, build relationships and strive to change lives for the better. One of the most important 'life-changing' elements we firmly believe in is our commitment to finding ways to serve and care for others via the charitable arm of our conference.

This September, we hope you'll join us as we unveil the newly established CARRE Foundation, which will be directing efforts to spotlight charitable causes that convenience/petroleum industry leaders are passionate about.

The Coca-Cola Co. is proud to share in these efforts. Coke's signature Polar Bears will be available for adoption for $100 by conference attendees as part of the grand prize drawing. A silent auction will also be held, featuring unique and valuable items provided by both supplier and retailer attending companies.

During our three-day conference, we will learn about the Pull-Thru Networkand the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Trisomy 21 Clinic. Both organizations concentrate their efforts in the research and care of individuals with Trisomy 21 (the clinical name for Down Syndrome). These organizations are of personal interest, as they have been instrumental in the care of Michael's son, Quinn, who at age 5 has already had many private battles with this disability.

As honorary co-chairmen of this inaugural endeavor of the CARRE Foundation, we are asking for your attention and support.
