Kum & Go Connects With Consmr, Pepsi, Apple

Downloading product ratings app garners free Pepsi Max from convenience retailer

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Kum & Go LC is partnering with social media technology platform Consmr to help customers access ratings and reviews on all of their favorite products from within the store.

The convenience retailer is offering a free 20-ounce Pepsi Max for consumers who download Consmr via Apple and show the offer at any of the 450 Kum & Go stores for a limited time.

Potential buyers who sign up for the program will be alerted when they are near a Kum & Go convenience store.

The program is also being supported by in-store signage and various point-of-sale (POS) materials.

Consmr is an iPhone application that allows users to leave product reviewers after scanning the products barcode.

Consmr is an unbiased, democratic platform for ratings and reviews of grocery and drugstore products.

Earlier this year, Kum & Go ran a similar promotion in which it gave away a $25 gift card every week to a customer who bought a fountain drink and shares the purchase on Bawte, a social media application designed for that purpose. The customer used Bawte to tag the QR code on the cup and share the purchase. The promotion also included the codes on candy bars, bags of chips, video games and other products (see Related Content below for previous CPS Daily News coverage).

West Des Moines, Iowa-based Kum & Go's c-stores are located in Iowa, Arkansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wyoming. Along with name-brand merchandise, it sells a proprietary mix of products under the Hiland brand name. Other proprietary product offerings include Java Ridge Premium Coffee, Napa Creek and Sea Ridge wines, Go Fresh Market sandwiches and Nuclear energy drinks.
