PORTLAND, Ore. --Plaid Pantries Inc. has installed more than 70 Amazon Lockers at locations throughout Portland, Ore., enabling customers to pick up and return packages at the convenience stores, reported The Oregonian.
Amazon customers select the location of the locker to which they would like their package delivered when checking out. Once a package is delivered to the Amazon Locker, customers receive an email notification with a code that allows them to retrieve the package. Users must pick up their order within three business days.
Plaid Pantries joins Irving, Texas-based convenience-store retailer 7-Eleven Inc., which has been testing Amazon lockers since 2011, with some located in Portland.
Amazon Lockers are in shopping centers, convenience and other retail stores, transit stations and other access points in areas with high package density. The lockers are located in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Portland, San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle, as well as in Delaware, New Jersey and Virginia.
Founded in 1963, Beaverton, Ore.-based Plaid Pantries operates approximately 110 convenience stores in Oregon and Washington, most situated in metropolitan Portland. Only 11 locations have fuel, branded 76 and Shell.
