Revving Up Relationships

Gulf Oil launches branded MasterCard, Jeep promotion

CHELSEA, Mass. -- Gulf Oil Limited Partnership has launched the Gulf MasterCard that offers significant discounts on gasoline and nongasoline purchases for Gulf card customers.

Our new Gulf MasterCard is a great way to help consumers save some money at the pumps, said Joe Petrowski, Gulf Oil's president and CEO. Gulf Oil's expansion into credit cards is another way to help us build a brand that goes gas purchases and into other daily purchases that our customers may have.

The Gulf MasterCard lets new cardholders earn 10% of their [image-nocss] gasoline purchases in free gasoline for future purchases in the first 60 days. Free gasoline is also earned on nonfuel purchases and after the introductory 60-day period.

Chelsea, Mass.-based Gulf Oil also announced that a Gulf branded and wrapped Jeep Cherokee will hit the road this summer, making stops across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic as a way to hear more from customers, through surveys and contests and to sign up new customers for the newly launched Gulf MasterCard.

We're revving up our customer relationships, said Petrowski. Gulf Oil is excited to be on the road this summer in this great grassroots program that build on our role as the neighborhood oil company.

Gulf Oil will run local contests starting in September, where drivers with customer Gulf bumper stickers are spotted by the Jeep driver win free gasoline.

One of the Northeast's largest wholesaler of refined petroleum products, Gulf Oil distributes motor fuels through a network of more than 2,400 Gulf-branded gas stations, 12 proprietary oil terminals and a network of more than 50 other supply terminals. It supplies heating oil, diesel fuel, jet fuel and kerosene to these branded retail outlets through both its Gulf brand and in the seven states of New England and New York, the Exxon brand. Through its unbranded subsidiary, Great Island Energy, Gulf Oil LP also supplies petroleum products as well as risk management and financial services to industrial, commercial and independent retail firms. Gulf Oil through its wholly owned subsidiary, World Energy is also the nation's largest distributor of biodiesel, it said.
