Travel Center Adds Credit Union

Expansion also includes car wash, more

SPRING VALLEY, Wis. -- Team Oil Travel Center now includes a WESTconsin Credit Union office, a car wash and an expanded vinyl sign shop, along with the gasoline and convenience store, reported the Pierce County Herald.

For the last four years, Team Oil has been under the ownership of father and son Tony and Eric Huppert, along with their wives, Trudy and Michelle, respectively, the report said.

The travel center employs around 30 people, while the credit union has five. The The 10,500-square foot, full-service financial facility [image-nocss] opened to the public last month. WESTconsin Credit Union was one of four banks Team Oil decided to go with in terms of financing the addition, Eric told the newspaper.

The Spring Valley travel center is the credit union's first location in Pierce County; it has three in Menomonie and one each in Amery, Baldwin, Barron, Hudson, New Richmond and River Falls, Wis. It only makes sense for them to come into this area, Eric said. I'd say 60% of the cards that come across our counter are from the credit union.

This is an excellent opportunity to improve service to our membership base in Spring Valley, said Mike Schmitz, WESTconsin's vice president of operations.

Jamie Fowler, financial services supervisor for WESTconsin, told the paper, We're very excited to be here, and everyone that walks in says they're happy we're here.

And with the news that the Bank of Spring Valley has recently changed ownership and that Hiawatha National Bank is in financial trouble, both parties said that they believe the credit union will do very well in Spring Valley, according to the report.

Hours for the credit union are Monday-Thursday 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Friday 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-noon, for both the lobby and drive-in.

As for the other additions to the travel center, Tony said the location's original plans had called for a car wash, but that fell through. When the idea resurfaced, they asked customers what they would prefer. A touchless car wash was the overwhelming choice, so that's what they went with, the report said.

The wash opened early last month, he told the paper. To enter the car wash and the credit union driveup, people have to travel around to the back of the building.

Additional benefits include paying for the car wash with either cash, coins or credit card at the pump. The vacuums will be ready in the near future.
