Wawa, Eagles Team Up to Tackle Hunger

Two November campaigns encourage customers, fans to donate

WAWA, Pa. -- This holiday season, Wawa is sponsoring two campaigns to fight hunger: Check Out Hunger and Hoagie Huddle for Hunger, both of which run in stores from November 6 to November 26. The campaigns are part of a continuing effort by Wawa to support local food banks through corporate contributions and in-store fundraising.

Pennsylvania Wawa stores are teaming up with the Philadelphia Eagles and Philabundance, Greater Philadelphia's food organization, to organize and promote both initiatives.

On November 6, Wawa will begin [image-nocss] running its annual in-store fundraising campaign, Check Out Hunger, at all Wawa stores. The initiative allows Wawa customers to combat area hunger through scannable UPC coupons. Customers can either add $1, $3 or $5 donations to their Wawa purchase or they can chose to purchase soup bowl cutouts to be displayed with their

name in the store; proceeds will benefit food banks in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. Wawa hopes to build on the success of last year's Check Out Hunger campaign, where Wawa received more than $100,000 in donations and raised enough funds to provide one million meals to local food banks.

Also in November, Wawa will host its Hoagie Huddle for Hunger sweepstakes in its 185 Pennsylvania stores that are located within the Philabundance serving area. Wawa is encouraging customers to fill out a sweepstakes form in any participating Wawa for a chance to join Eagles players, cheerleaders, and the Eagles' team mascot, to help build Wawa hoagies at Lincoln Financial Field; all of the hoagies built at the event will be donated to local food banks. On December 4, Wawa will notify the 25 winners who will participate in the December 19 hoagie building event.

And 25 sweepstakes winners (plus one guest each), as well as 25 associates from the Wawa store that collects the most donations will join select Eagles players, cheerleaders and team mascot, Swoop, at Lincoln Financial Field for a rewarding day of community service. Participants will help build thousands of Wawa hoagies to be donated to local food banks. The event will also include the playing of a holiday-themed movie, music, Wawa refreshments and Eagles and Wawa gift packages including player photos and autographs.
