ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Tobacco products were a hot commodity at this year’s Eby-Expo Midwest, a trade show hosted by distributor Eby-Brown, Naperville, Ill. Here’s what CSP noticed on the show floor, including cigars, rolling papers, tobacco-free snuff and flavored wraps.
Swedish Match, the makers of White Owl cigars, displayed its Night Owl pipe tobacco cigars at the show. Initially launched in January, Night Owls are available nationwide in four flavor options, including Classic, Wine, Tropical and Black Cherry. They arrive in a variety of formats, including two for 99 cents, four-packs and limited-edition pairings with White Owl Spiked Lemonade and Game Blue Raspberry cigars. Night Owls are packaged in resealable foil fresh pouches.
Tobacco manufacturer Kretek International showcased its Cuban Rounds Mini’s Rumba—the newest variety of its Cuban Rounds Mini's cigars—at the show. These miniature cigars are 3.5 inches in length, have a 20-ring diameter and are mellow-bodied in strength. They are rolled in the traditional Havana style for smoothness and aged flavor, according to the company. Other Cuban Rounds Mini’s varieties include Bolero, Mambo and Sweets.
Bnb Tobacco had its Zig-Zag Rillo Size Cigar Wraps on display at the show. These wraps, which come in Grape and Blueberry flavors, are available in bundles of four for 99 cents each, as well as in 15-packs of four cigars. They are packaged in air-tight resealable foil pouches to help ensure freshness, and they are mellow in strength, according to the company.
Smokey Mountain, producer of tobacco-free snuff tobacco of the same name, had all eight of its flavors on display at the show. They are Classic, Wintergreen, Arctic Mint, Straight, Citrus, Peach, Cherry and Grape. Each variety is available in 10-can rolls for a suggested retail price of $35.95.
Rolling paper manufacturer OCB showcased its new Virgin unbleached cigarette papers at the show, which come in three sizes: Virgin 1 1/4, Virgin Single Wide and Virgin Slim. OCB displayed these new papers in packs of 21.
