CAMARILLO, Calif. -- Spark Industries LLC, makers of Cig2o e-cigarettes and Vapage vapor products, has signed a global licensing agreement for the use of vapor technology-related patents controlled by Fontem Ventures in the United States and internationally.
The deal follows a settlement resolving ongoing litigation.
“Spark wanted across-the-board access to the patented, covered technology, as a benefit to its constituent customers--distributors, wholesalers, retailers, and consumers,” said Spencer Thompson, president of Spark Industries/Spark Vapor Brands.
“We have always been a company that lives by integrity, and strives to operate in the best, ethical way,” he said. “In obtaining the global license from Fontem Ventures, we have done just that, by utilizing Fontem’s intellectual property in the correct way and ensuring that our customers are protected from infringing Fontem’s patents if they partner with Spark.”
Founded in 2002, Spark Industries is a leading e-vapor technology research and design company located in Camarillo, Calif. Since 2008, Spark Industries has developed technology for electronic cigarettes, cartomizer refills, personal vaporizers and premium e-liquids. It is the owner of Cig2o and Vapage brand vapor products. It launched the Cig2o e-cigarette in 2009.
The company distributes several nationally recognized brands including Cig2o and Vapage brands of e-vapor hardware, Vapage, Blind Lion and Vapage Private Reserve brands of premium eliquids; it and also blends and bottles in the United States. All Spark products are designed in the United States with features in response to consumer research and product advancement. Spark also maintains a management presence in China where it coordinates product development and production with U.S.-based design and packaging. This allows Spark to provide supply chain efficiency and marketing response for its distributor and retail partners.
Fontem Ventures is the owner of blu, a leading e-cigarette brand in the United States and the United Kingdom. It is based in the Netherlands.
