TPSAC to Meet on Dissolvables

Committee meeting to include discussion on nature and impact of dissolvables

ROCKVILLE, Md. --The Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee (TPSAC) will hold a meeting to discuss dissolvable tobacco products from January 18-20 at the FDA's Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) headquarters.

According to the CTP Web site, "the committee will continue discussing issues related to the nature and impact of the use of dissolvable tobacco products on the public health, including such use among children. Discussion will include such topics as the composition and characteristics of dissolvable tobacco products, product use, potential health effects, and marketing."

The meeting will be open to the public on January 18, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., on January 19, 2012, from 8  a.m. to 5 p.m. and on January 20, 2012, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Meeting materials will be posted on the CTP Web site, as they become available – no later than two business days before the meeting.

TPSAC reviews and evaluates safety, dependence, and health issues relating to tobacco products and provides appropriate advice, information and recommendations, according to the CTP Web site.
