Sunoco's APlus Stores Expand Craft Beer Exchange to S.C.

Retailer brings growler concept to Palmetto State

PHILADELPHIA -- Sunoco said that it plans to expand the Craft Beer Exchange at its APlus convenience stores into the Charleston, S.C., market. After success in multiple New York markets, Sunoco APlus' Craft Beer Exchange will be featured at 13 locations across coastal South Carolina.

The new locations are in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties.

The Craft Beer Exchange began with 12 locations in western New York in the summer of 2011 and expanded throughout the state of New York to more than 40 locations.

"We have decided to expand the Craft Beer Exchange to South Carolina based on the success we have had in multiple New York markets over the last six months," said Wendy Lyman, Sunoco's beverage category manager. "The Charleston market presents an excellent platform to expand the Craft Beer Exchange at APlus because of our current assets, market density in the region, excellent employees, and a local customer base that enjoys craft beer."

Started as a pilot program in the Buffalo market in the summer of 2011, the Craft Beer Exchange offers our customers across New York state and now, coastal South Carolina, a unique selection of up to 12 rotating craft beers available to-go in 64-ounce growlers. Customers looking for variety in their craft beer experience can also create their own six packs from a selection of 12-ounce single bottles for $9.99.

Selections change seasonally and include craft beers from microbreweries such as Holy City, Sweetwater, Allagash, Abita, Dogfish Head, Victory, New Belgium and Palmetto.

Sunoco is a leading transportation fuel provider with operations located primarily in the East Coast and Midwest regions of the United States. The company sells transportation fuels through more than 4,900 branded retail locations in 24 states. APlus convenience stores are operated by the company or independent dealers in more than 600 of its retail locations.
