Each year, CarterEnergy's senior vice president retail [image-nocss] development, Dave Milligan, chairs the committee responsible for the event. Because the Dream Factory is made up entirely of volunteers, all the money raised goes to the kids. This year, 33 teams took to the course for a morning of golfing, followed by a barbecue, silent and live auctions and an awards ceremony.
Dream Factory spokesperson and KMBC news anchor Larry Moore, along with Dream Child, Cullen Elliot, were both on hand to assist with the afternoon festivities. "It is because of people like you," Larry told the crowd, "that have enabled the Dream Factory to grant more than 5,000 dreams to sick and disabled kids in the Kansas City area during the past 25 years. On behalf of all the volunteers, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. May you always be as generous as you are today."
"CarterEnergy's goal this year was to exceed last year's proceeds of $46,000and we did it, raising $51,000; $2,400 of the proceeds came from our newest fund-raising efforts, supported by select Kansas City area convenience store operators who placed change donation boxes in their stores," the company said.
