Corona Stands Tall

New packaging targets new occasions

CHICAGO -- Corona Light, the No. 1 imported light beer in the United States, is extending its package line with the addition of the new Corona Light 12-ounce Tall Can. The new package will roll-out at retail in warm weather markets (Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, New Mexico, Nevada and Texas) in December, with remaining U.S. markets to follow in early 2009.

“We are excited to add the new Corona Light 12-ounce can to our Modelo Brand portfolio,” said Bruce Jacobson, executive vice president of sales for Crown Imports, Corona 's U.S. importer. “Corona Light is [image-nocss] leading the imported light-beer category, and this new package offers our wholesaler and retailer partners yet another high-end option for consumers to enjoy Corona Light at a wider variety of locations where bottles may not be offered.”

“The 12-ounce can package fits the lifestyle of the Corona Light consumer, who, our research shows, is very active, participating in such activities as camping, fishing, bicycling, water sports and beach activities,” said Mark McKeown, director of business information for Crown Imports. “This new can enables the consumer to enjoy Corona Light in just about any occasion.”

Corona Light is the No. 1 imported light beer, and the No. 1 imported high-end beer in the United States. Corona Light 's ten year CAGR is 13.3%, and the brand grew 10.5% in 2007. It is ranked No. 13 overall in the chain grocery/drugstore segment, where imported light beer is growing faster than domestic light and the overall beer category.

The new Corona Light 12-ounce Tall Can package rollout will be supported with an array of point-of-sale materials, including shelf strips, display cards and static stickers.
