E-Z Mart Does It

20th Annual Jim Yates Memorial Charity Golf Classic raised funds for several causes
TEXARKANA, Texas -- The Texarkana Country Club was the site of the 20th Annual Jim Yates Memorial Charity Golf Classic. This event is held annually to raise funds for the various charitable causes that the E-Z Mart Jim Yates Foundation chooses to support throughout the communities in which they operate.

The event took place on June 8, with 253 players participating. These players represent 63 four-man teams playing in two flights during the all-day event. Team members include individuals from E-Z Mart management as well as different vendor representatives and businesses [image-nocss] that work with the company throughout the year. Prizes were awarded for the first-, second- and third-place finishers, Longest Drive and Closest to the Hole in each of the flights.[Pictured (left to right): Scott Turner, Steve Weed, Debbie Sheppard, Stacy Yates, Gary Wright]Volunteers from the organizations receiving charitable funds, as well as E-Z Mart employees, worked to see that the tournament runs smoothly.

The event raised more than $120,000. Funds are collected through entry fees, sponsorships and prize raffles. The money raised will benefit nonprofit organizations including Texas A & M University Texarkana, Texarkana Komen Race for the Cure and Easter Seals among others.

Since the inception of the tournament in 1990, more than $1.5 million has been donated to charitable organizations.
