Master-Bilt Promotes Two

Owen becomes ops manager, Melvin becomes engineering manager

NEW ALBANY, Miss. -- Master-Bilt, manufacturer of commercial refrigeration systems, has announced the promotions of Kenny Owen to operations manager and Pat Melvin to engineering manager, effective immediately.

Kenny and Pat's hard work at Master-Bilt over the past 14 and 12 years, respectively, has given them extensive knowledge and experience in this industry, which is critical for our customers, said President Chuck Dawson. Their commitment to Master-Bilt is evident, and we're excited to watch them grow in their new positions.

Owen has 14 years of experience with refrigeration engineering, distribution, selling and customer service. He started with Master-Bilt in 1992 as senior design engineer and quickly evolved to become the engineering manager of the beverage division in 1994. In 1998, he became engineering manager over all engineering at Master-Bilt.

In his new role, Owen will be responsible for the New Albany, Miss., manufacturing facility, and will head up its purchasing, materials and distribution efforts. He will report directly to Dawson.

Melvin has nearly 12 years of diverse experience in refrigeration, designing and engineering walk-ins, cabinets and refrigeration systems. He started at Master-Bilt as a design engineer in 1994, and in 2000 was promoted to senior design engineer where he was responsible for many new designs and products. He was then appointed to walk-in engineering manager in 2005 and will now take over for Owen as engineering manager.

In his new position, Melvin is responsible for application design, new product design, existing product changes and any engineering directly related to the product. He also will report directly to Dawson.

Master-Bilt, a member of the Standex Foodservice Group, has been delivering premier refrigeration solutions to the commercial marketplace for more than 65 years. It serves the restaurant, convenience store, dairy, warehousing and drug store markets.
