Julius Cox recently joined Pilot Co. to be the company’s chief people officer.

Previously, Cox was executive vice president of people, shared services and supply chain, at Pacific Gas and Electric Co., San Francisco. In his new role, Cox will focus on the continued development of Knoxville, Tennessee-based Pilot’s people-focused culture and further elevating the team member experience, the company said.

  • Pilot Co. is No. 13 on CSP’s 2023 Top 202 ranking of U.S. c-store chains by store count.

“I am excited to be a part of an organization with such a rich history of serving others and delivering exceptional experiences,” Cox said. “Everyone has welcomed me with open arms and helped me feel like I am part of the Pilot family.”

Cox replaces Paul Shore, who accepted a new role outside Pilot earlier this year.

Prior to Pacific Gas and Electric, Cox was the senior vice president and chief human resources officer at American Electric Power in Columbus, Ohio.

Cox has a master of science degree in human resource management from Texas A&M, College Station, Texas, where he also earned a bachelor of business administration degree. Cox also went through the Philadelphia-based University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School advanced management program.

Founded in 1958, Pilot has grown its network to more than 870 locations and providing more than 70,000 fleet customers with solutions for fuel, credit, factoring, services and rewards.
