WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. --QuickChek Corp. has announced that Randy Carlin has joined the company as senior vice president of real estate and development.
Carlin has more than 20 years of corporate real-estate experience including in acquisition, leasing, site selection, development, construction, lease administration, facilities, sustainability and energy management.
He joins the convenience-store chain from PetSmart Stores, where he played a key role in that company’s growth from 600 retail stores in 2003 to more than 1,400. He also led the site selection, development and construction of four major distribution centers, ranging in size from 800,000 square feet to more than 1,000,000 square feet.
Prior to PetSmart, Carlin spent 16 years at U-Haul, where he was vice president of development and construction and a senior auditor.
“Randy brings a wealth of experience in store development and real-estate administration that will be a great asset to our team as we continue to look at the best ways we can serve our market,” said QuickChek CEO Dean Durling. “He has a proven track record in managing the key components and directing people to successfully grow at the retail level. We are pleased to welcome him to our senior leadership team.”
Carlin’s responsibilities will include directing QuickChek’s site selection, new store strategy, store engineering and construction and property development teams.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to join QuickChek, for the challenge of having responsibility for managing their real-estate program, and working with Dean and his team in helping this company continue its growth and path for continued success,” said Carlin.
Family-owned QuickChek, based in Whitehouse Station, N.J., operates 143 retail locations throughout New Jersey, New York’s Hudson Valley and Long Island.
The company has opening 31 new stores since 2007. It opened five new stores in 2015. And it is planning on opening its newest store in Howell in Monmouth County in the spring.
“As a privately-held company, we can move at our pace in developing the best locations and the best products and services to continue to meet the needs of our customers,” said Durling.
