CARMEL, Ind. -- U.S. Representative Susan Brooks (R-Ind.) served as “Clerk for a Day” at Ricker’s Convenience Stores as part of the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) In Store Program.
From 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. on May 22, Brooks underwent employee training, worked behind the counter and interacted with employees and customers at a Ricker’s c-store in Carmel, Ind.
The NACS In Store Program gives U.S. legislators nationwide the opportunity to gain knowledge and first-hand experience of the convenience-store and fuel industry by allowing them to work alongside employees. The goal is for elected officials to return to Congress with a better understanding of the industry and, consequently, be more equipped to make decisions about the legislation that greatly affects it.
“We are honored to have had Congresswoman Brooks visit our store as part of the NACS In Store Program,” said Jay Ricker, the chain’s founder and chairman. “I believe that this experience will truly help to better connect the convenience and fuel retailing industry with Congress.”
Based in Anderson, Ind., Ricker's has more than 50 convenience stores that employ more than 700 Hoosiers. Ricker's stores are known for their "RickerPop" fountain drinks.
