HARTFORD, N.Y. -- The site of a former IGA grocery store will be occupied by a Stewart's Shop, which opens its doors today. Stewart's and local residents will celebrate the grand opening of what is the company's 321st shop, on Saturday, September 16.
Residents are excited to have a Stewart's Shop, that will provide them something they've been missing for some time now, commented Stewart's Shops district manager, Mike Hartshorne. In addition to great coffee and delicious ice cream, the new shop also features an expanded grocery area and deli section.[image-nocss] p>
Part of the celebration will include a Lucky Tape contest for $300 worth of gasoline, which customers enter by signing the back of their register receipt, as well as a 10-cent discount on all grades of fuel from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
A variety of specials inside the shop include 50-cent deals on coffee, deli-dogs, single-scoop cones, 20-oz. sodas and 16-oz. and 20-oz. Stewart's Refreshers. All Buy 1, Get 1 Free specials will also be offered on Stewart's half gallon ice cream, half gallon and gallon milk, half gallon orange juice, two-liter soda and bread, hot dog rolls, hamburger rolls and English Muffins.
There will also be a pint ice cream eating contest, with the winner receiving a one year supply of Stewart's ice cream.
As part of a commitment to support the communities in which its shops are located, Stewart's will donate the proceeds from all Buy 1, Get 1 Free purchases to the Hartford Youth Commission and the Hartford Historical Society. The company donates 5% of its annual profits to charity, with well over $1.75 million going towards local charities in 2006, the Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-based company said.
The new shop, with a crew under shop manger Jill Lucas, will operate daily from 5:00 am to 11:00 pm.
