BUFFALO, N.Y. Too much to do and too little time at the convenience store? Rich Products’ new Fully Finished Glazed Donuts offer the taste and quality of freshly made doughnuts that are easy to handle, ready to serve and maintain fresh quality over an extended shelf life, the company said.

The line, available in tray packaging, offers these fully finished varieties:

  • A glazed yeast ring doughnut ready to serve and requiring no labor (48 per case).
  • A glazed cinnamon roll doughnut made with yeast dough with cinnamon and glazed (32 per case).
  • A glazed apple fritter doughnut made with yeast dough that combines spices and diced apples (32 per case).
  • A plain, tender cake ring doughnut that is ready to serve (48 per case).

To develop the portfolio, Rich’s, which earlier this year rolled out a quartet of filled doughnuts, worked closely with c-store operators and consumers to identify their top concerns and needs, the company said. Labor-challenged c-store operators were frustrated by poor quality and high spoilage rates, while consumers were seeking a fresh doughnut-eating experience during all dayparts.

In testing, Rich’s doughnuts consistently outperformed top competitors on freshness and extended ambient shelf life, the company said, with 79% of consumers in a Wolf Group study saying they would buy the Rich’s doughnut.

The Fully Finished Glazed Donuts offer a stable glaze that does not degrade over time, a soft doughnut texture and longer ambient shelf life in the bakery case: 48 hours for yeast doughnut and 72 hours for cake doughnut, Rich Products said, with the glazed yeast rings also maintaining a “just finished” appearance throughout the ambient shelf life.

“With our Fully Finished Glazed Donuts, c-store operators are now able to offer the freshest quality products to their customers,” said Alyssa Barrett, customer marketing manager of convenience at Rich Products. “C-store operators reap the benefits of increased sales when keeping doughnut offerings stocked, looking fresh and appealing without the risk of spoilage.”
