HOUSTON — Foodservice beverage manufacturer Sunny Sky Products has acquired dispensed beverage producer Amfotek for an undisclosed amount.
According to the deal, Sunny Sky Products will attain Amfotek's equipment and manufacturing facility in Tinley Park, Ill. Amfotek will continue its daily operations from this location, which is also the company’s headquarters.
“Amfotek's product line and customer base is a perfect complement to Sunny Sky’s,” said W. Ashley Edens, president and CEO of Sunny Sky Products. “We already have a large customer base in powdered dispensed beverages, and this acquisition will solidify our leadership position in this space. Amfotek's manufacturing facility outside of Chicago will also give us added manufacturing flexibility and allow us to reduce transportation time to many of our customers.”
Amfotek specializes in powder-based products such as hot chocolates, cappuccinos and lattes, smoothies, apple ciders, chai teas, lemonades and other beverage enhancers. These items will merge with Sunny Sky’s portfolio, which includes cold dispensed, frozen and hot dispensed options such as aguas frescas, energy drinks, fountain flavor shots, fruit juices, sno-cone syrups and more.

Amfotek distributes its beverages to a variety of foodservice establishments, including convenience stores, quick-service restaurants, coffee roasters and coffeehouses. The company has been in business for more than two decades.
Houston-based Sunny Sky Products distributes its cold dispensed, hot dispensed and frozen beverages, as well as beverage enhancers, to more than 20 countries. The brand’s product portfolio includes labels such as Hershey’s Freeze, Jolly Rancher Slush, Pure Craft Beverages, El Nino Aguas Frescas and Original Slushie Co.
