WESTBOROUGH, Mass. -- Cumberland Farms is offering free fuel to users of its SmartPay mobile app in its upcoming Pump My Ride promotion.

The Pump My Ride event will award $10 worth of gasoline to the first 100 customers using Cumberland Farms’ SmartPay Check-Link mobile app at two of its Port Orange, Mass., stores, the first on Jan. 22 and the second on Jan. 23. Any customer who has the SmartPay app downloaded on their smartphone will be eligible to receive the free gas, which will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Members who have a physical card or customers who have not enrolled in the program can download Cumberland Farms’ SmartPay app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.

Cumberland Farms will also serve samples from its menu to all customers who visit the two stores during the promotion, including breakfast sandwiches and the retailer’s Farmhouse Blend coffee. The Pump My Ride event follows a summer 2018 promotion that offered users of the SmartPay app the chance to win free gasoline for a year.

"Since launching our SmartPay program six years ago, Cumberland Farms has saved members over $100 million in fuel purchases," said David Heilbronner, Cumberland Farms’ director of brand strategy and advertising. "We want to thank our Port Orange SmartPay mobile-app users by helping to fill up their tanks. We encourage all of our customers to sign up for the SmartPay mobile app to save money on every gallon of fuel and receive the rewards that come with the program."

SmartPay offers members a 10-cent-per-gallon discount on gasoline every day at all Cumberland Farms stores that sell fuel. With the SmartPay mobile app, users can also participate in rewards clubs that offer a free menu item, such as pizza and breakfast sandwiches, for every 10 items they purchase. Customers can also earn a free coffee, fountain beverage or bottled water for every 50 gallons of fuel they purchase.

Cumberland Farms, Westborough, Mass., which has more than 500 stores along the East Coast, was No. 16 in CSP’s Top 202 ranking of the industry’s largest c-store chains.
