StrasGlobal Adds 2 to Leadership Team

Industry veterans’ experience includes stints with BP, Irving Oil, Speedway, SuperAmerica

TEMPLE, Texas — StrasGlobal, a provider of retail contract management services, has added Derek Abitz as vice president of brand, marketing and innovation, and Steve Morris as vice president of retail operations.

Abitz (pictured, left) joined Temple, Texas-based StrasGlobal in January 2021. He has deep retail experience in the convenience store and telecommunications industries, having spent 20 years as part of BP’s U.S. and global marketing teams and more recently, six years as director of innovation and new business incubation at U.S. Cellular. At BP, he led the U.S. innovation and offer development efforts, re-imagined BP’s food and beverage program, with Wild Bean Café and provided category and merchandising leadership for more than 800 BP convenience stores. Between his time at BP and U.S. Cellular, he served as Irving Oil’s vice president of retail marketing, where he helped grow the Irving brand throughout New England while creating a competitive advantage for the company, with the launch of Irving Rewards.

Abitz “brings a relentless customer-centric focus, and a passion to innovate that will help lead all our StrasGlobal’s go-to-market initiatives,” said President Eva Strasburger.

Morris (pictured, right) joined the company in February 2021. He comes to StrasGlobal with 25 years of c-store experience with Speedway and SuperAmerica where his responsibilities included strategic planning and analysis, budgeting, operations management, maintenance and construction, marketing and merchandising, advertising, strategic partnerships and project management. Most he was Speedway’s regional manager. He used his skills and expertise for Northern Tier Energy, SuperAmerica and Speedway c-suite management, each time the divisions required market integrations.
