GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Giving retailers a whiff of what’s to come, tobacco manufacturers exhibiting in the convenience-store product gallery at last week’s Convenience Retailing University (CRU) conference previewed items ranging from moist smokeless tins to electronic cigarettes.
The category rose in prominence during conference sessions, continuing to dominate in-store sales despite declining as an overall segment of products.
Here are four companies exhibiting in the conference c-store ...
Richmond, Va.-based Altria Group hosted a workshop at the conference, revealing statistics on how cigarette and e-vapor customers on average spend twice as much as the typical c-store shopper. Representatives touted the company’s Marlboro-branded menthol product, Copenhagen mint, its MarkTen e-cigarette and its upcoming “Sweets” line of its Black & Mild cigars.
Princeton, N.J.-based Logic had several of its disposable and rechargeable e-vapor products on display, as well as its varied line of e-liquid flavors such as menthol and cherry.
Known for its line of rolling papers, Republic Tobacco, Glenview, Ill., had on display its OCB organic hemp line among other products.
Lighting up the mock c-store, Shelton, Conn.-based BIC USA had several lines of lighters on display, including its Bohemian series.
