CHICAGO  The battle against staffing issues and rising costs has a weapon being used at several restaurant chains, and Jack in the Box is the latest company to get help via an artificial intelligence  (AI)-powered robotic arm named Flippy, according to a Restaurant Business report.

Jack in the Box will test Flippy, which can handle nearly every step in the curly-fry-preparation process, as well as prepare chicken and tacos, at one of its restaurants in San Diego, where it is based.

Jack in the Box also is testing Sippy, which pours and seals drinks after getting beverage orders from a POS system. Both machines are from Pasadena, Calif.-based Miso Robotics.
