Once again, there is no estimate on when the Nicotine Steering Committee will make a ruling on e-cigs or any other products. But the very notion that a product manufactured by tobacco companies could be included as an FDA-approved NRT and market itself as such is considered positive for the industry.

“This is welcome news, as it shows a growing understanding that safer alternatives, including e-cigarettes, are available to smokers who want to quit,” wrote Neil McKeganey, director at the Center for Substance Use Research in Glasgow, Scotland, in an article published on The Hill.
