Founded with one location in Tulsa, Okla., in 1958 by Chester Cadieux II and Burt Holmes, today QuikTrip has 707 convenience stores in 11 states, including about 70 in Tulsa, Okla. The chain opened its 700th store in 2014 and will eventually replace older stores with the "Gen 3" model that is 5,700 square feet.
Total sales are estimated at more than $11 billion. For the 12th year in a row, QT landed on Fortune magazine's annual "100 Best Companies to Work For" list, hitting No. 48 in 2014, up from No. 66 the previous year. More than 17,000 people work for QT.
