SuperAmerica/Northern Tier Retail operates and franchises convenience stores under the brand SuperAmerica, with 165 company-operated locations. The company also owns SuperMom’s Commissary, which provides baked goods and sandwiches for most of the SuperAmerica stores (some exceptions being those in remote areas).

SuperAmerica stores often work together on their merchandising and buying, and many are in close proximity to each other. All locations sell fuel, and E85 is available at some locations.

In 2014, the chain continued to reinvigorate the SuperAmerica brand and is renovating stores with new colors and signage, gondolas and expanded foodservice. Plans are for 10 new stores in 2015, all franchise operations. The chain plans to market the SuperMom brand in 2015, emphasizing fresh products delivered to stores daily.

Parent company Northern Tier Energy LLC was formed in 2010 to operate the assets spun off from Houston-based Marathon Oil Corp., including the SuperAmerica stores. Northern Tier Energy has three divisions: retail, refining and the pipeline operations.
