Golden Pantry began in 1965 as a single convenience store in Athens, Georgia, and has grown to 39 convenience stores, plus 18 dealer sites, which it describes as "Not too big. Not too small." All c-stores offer gasoline and diesel fuel. The company provides fuel equipment and delivers fuel to the dealer locations.

One new store was added in 2016. No more new stores are planned but "a few" are being remodeled and adding new equipment. The company has a comprehensive training program for new hires and seeks to attract a broad range of customers including blue-collar workers and working moms.

Fuel brands sold include BP, Chevron, Exxon and Shell. Store footprints range from about 2,500 to 4,000 square feet. Foodservice formats include full serve, limited serve, self serve and QSR, including signature fresh-made biscuits. Services include gift cards, money orders, ATMs and lottery, in addition to movie rentals and propane.
