Covid-19 one year later
Convenience-store retailers were not given the option to retreat as the rest of the world shut down in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Store employees found themselves on the front lines, balancing belligerent customers and the safety of everyone around them. Executives scrambled to keep their businesses afloat as they were deemed essential despite harrowing dips in foot traffic and struggling sales from the forecourt to inside the store. These are the stories of just some of the men and women of convenience retail who put their lives and livelihoods on the line when their communities needed them.
