Digital insights firm Incisiv announced its 2023 convenience-store leaders in digital marketing during Winsight’s inaugural RetailTEC conference in Dallas.
The Digital Maturity Benchmark list recognizes 15 retail brands as leaders in the c-store shopping experience.
These leaders, listed alphabetically, are:
- 7-Eleven
- Byrne Dairy & Deli
- Casey's General Stores
- Family Express
- Food City
- GetGo
- Meijer Gas
- Mirabito
- Pride
- Quality Dairy
- Rhodes
- Rotten Robbie
- Speedway
- TXB
- Yesway
The list of leaders was narrowed from 103 convenience retail brands researched for 125 attributes, including the availability of information online, digital ordering, and customer service and engagement. These chains “have a strong foundation of table-stakes capabilities, along with leadership in the adoption of differentiating capabilities,” Incisiv said.
“They’re not all the mega guys,” said Dave Weinand, chief customer officer for Incisiv. “There are smaller brands here that understand they can make a difference in the store experience” through digital outreach.
The report concludes that while digital maturity does note yet add up to a huge percentage of sales, “it’s influence [on purchase behavior] is significant,” Weinand said.
Winsight’s RetailTEC continues through Thursday. It is a three-day conference produced by Winsight, in conjunction with Winsight Grocery Business, Supermarket News and CSP Daily News. The conference helps grocery and convenience-store leaders better understand the challenges and solutions in the often-confusing world of retail technology.
