Parker to Lead Marketing at Sampson-Bladen Oil

Retailer looking forward to “new adventure”

Three weeks after leaving his role at Parker Cos., Douglas Parker announced on Wednesday he has joined Sampson Bladen Oil Co. as executive director of marketing.

"I have been inspired by the team’s leadership, talent and commitment to the company’s vision," he wrote on LinkedIn, "and I am looking forward to working with this incredible team to drive the business forward with a great guest experience."

Sampson-Bladen Oil operates Han-Dee Hugo's convenience stores throughout North Carolina. The company's main market is the Research Triangle of Raleigh, Chapel Hill and Durham, North Carolina. Sampson-Bladen Oil operates 109 convenience stores. It also delivers fuel to more than 50 dealers but is strictly a supplier and doesn't make any in-store purchasing decisions for the dealers.

"To those that know that I am a huge Duke fan, the campus is 10 minutes from my office," Parker wrote. "My family and I have always wanted to live in the Research Triangle Park area, and we’ve made it!"

Parker announced in early June he would be leaving Parker Cos. "for a new adventure" after one year as senior director of marketing for the Savannah, Georgia-based retailer. 

  • Sampson-Bladen Oil ranked No. 67 on CSP's2023 Top 202 list of the largest c-store chains in the United States. Parker Cos. ranked No. 94.

Previously, Parker served as the director of category management for Louisville, Kentucky-based bp portfolio business Thorntons LLC. Earlier, he held leadership positions with CEFCO Convenience StoresRoad RangerKroger Convenience Stores and GPM Investments’ Fas Mart.
