A Look Inside Abbott’s Travel Center
By Greg Lindenberg on Oct. 22, 2021ABBOTT, Texas — Abbott’s Travel Center, a convenience store and travel center on Interstate 35 in Abbott, Texas, opened its doors in early September. The destination-based location accommodates all types of travelers and offers parking and fuel for professional drivers and interstate travelers as well as electric-vehicle charging stations for EV owners.
Here’s some of what the store has to offer ...
The Kitchen
A hot food kitchen features items such as fried chicken, breakfast biscuits, made-to-order pizza. The retailer is launching its own brand, called Supremo Tacos, which will feature breakfast tacos and bowls.
More food
The store also offers Krispy Krunchy Chicken and Hunt Brothers Pizza.
Coffee and fountain
The coffee island and fountain drink area features beverages such as soda and iced and regular hot coffee.
Frozen beverages
The store offers a f’real frozen dessert machine and an ICEE frozen drink machine.
Walk-in coolers
The store has ample cold-vault space with walk-in coolers and a beer cave.
Grab and go
Abbott's Travel Center also has grab-and-go items for consumers wanting something quick, such as hot pizza or cold sandwiches and biscuits.
Eclectic and unique items
Abbott’s Travel Center also prides itself on offering unique and on-trend items that may not be otherwise found in typical c-stores, such as Jeni’s Ice Cream and La Colombe Draft Latte Cold Brew.
Willie’s World
As Abbott, Texas, is the birthplace of Willie Nelson, the store also offers products from Willie’s Remedy, which includes a line of CBD-infused loose-leaf tea and coffee.
Lounge
A lounge features massage and lounge chairs that interstate travelers and truckers are welcome to sit in to rest, relax and watch television.
Other amenities
Professional drivers will have access to a variety of other amenities, including games, WiFi, exercise machines and showers. An additional amenity set to open inside the travel center in mid-October is a laundry facility.
COVID adaptation
With the advent of COVID-19 and maintaining sanitary measures, Abbott’s Travel Center also plans to open a drive-thru c-store component.
“Adapting business practices to accommodate to existing consumer sentiment is a must to gain back customer confidence. Implementing initiatives such as drive-thru and curbside pickup provides flexibility to customers who may not feel as comfortable walking through the door. These initiatives, without a doubt, will continue to be a driving growth factor across a handful of business sectors even in a post-COVID world,” said Numan Dharani, co-owner of Abbott’s Travel Center.
