ORLANDO, Fla. – A Circle K convenience store on South Orange Blossom Trail was the first stop on the store tours during this year’s Convenience Retailing University in Orlando, Fla. The store had all the classic c-store offerings, ranging from fresh food and hot coffee to tobacco and alcohol beverages. Among these were a plethora of unique private-label snacks and candies, which stood out with Circle K’s unique packaging.
Here’s a look at Circle K’s private-label snacks and candy …
Circle K’s Kettle Chips are at the forefront of the chain’s impulse items; not only are the chips stocked in the snack aisle and near the register, but they’re also strategically placed everywhere throughout the store. They’re at the open-air cooler up front, at the roller grill, near the coffee station and even beside the back refrigerators. The Kettle Chips come in various flavors, such as Original, Sea Salt & Malt Vinegar, Barbecue and Jalapeno.
The private-label peanuts at Circle K come in three varieties: Roasted with Sea Salt, Honey Roasted and BBQ Style, all of which contain about 680 calories and 600 grams of sodium per package. These salty snacks have a durable shelf life, remaining fresh until the end of this year and into January 2020. Circle K even has fun catchphrases on the packaging, such as “A nut above the rest!” and “Honey, you’ll be nuts about me!”
The candy shelf is bright at Circle K due to its Sour Neon Worms. These worms resemble classic sour gummy worms but are fat-free and are branded as Circle K’s “wiggly tart candy.” This sour candy is available for $1.79 per pack or two for $3. Like the peanuts, these treats have fun catchphrases on the packaging, such as “I’m so much brighter than regular gummi worms!”
The packaged pie slices add a savory-sweet combination to Circle K’s private-label offerings. The 4-ounce pies are filled with natural fruit and are lightly glazed on the outside. They come in three flavors: Cherry Pie, Lemon Pie and Apple Pie, all of which are available for Circle K’s private-label deal of two for $2.
The Peach Rings at Circle K are a distant cousin to the Sour Neon Worms. Like the worms. These rings are fat-free and available for $1.79 per pack or two for $3. Circle K has its Peach Rings placed in the “soft chewy candy” category, and its catchphrase is arguably the funniest of them all: “I’ll give you that soft fuzzy feeling!”
