CHICAGO -- Kraft Heinz is shaking up the condiment segment with two product launches that put new flavors at consumers' fingertips.
Mayochup is a combination of ketchup and mayonnaise set to arrive in stores later this year. And Ssam is a specialty sauce from New York-based restaurant Momofuku that will be available only via Amazon for a limited time.
Here's a look at each sauce …
In early April, Heinz polled consumers via Twitter, asking if it should debut the ketchup-mayonnaise concoction—a product already sold abroad—in the U.S. later this year. The result: More than 500,000 consumers voted, and 55% of them were in favor of launching the creamy mixture. However, the name Mayochup may change, because some Twitter users are opposed to it. Heinz will allow fans to suggest the final name before its official launch.
“We know people have combined mayonnaise and ketchup for years, and they are passionate about its name,” said Nicole Kulwicki, director of marketing for Heinz. “That’s why we’re asking America to share their suggestions, to ensure our version of this delicious duo gets the name it deserves.”
We heard you saucy Americans and we’re bringing you our version of the delicious duo you’ve been eating for years. Are you Team Mayochup or should we call it something else? Let us know your thoughts! pic.twitter.com/q0PRofYOO5

The launch of Ssam Sauce marks the first time the combination of Korean chili paste, miso, sake, soy sauce and vinegar has been available to the public; it previously was available only at Momofuku. The 12-ounce bottled condiment is available in three flavors: Original, Smoky and Spicy.
Momofuku partnered with Springboard, Kraft Heinz’s new platform dedicated to sparking growth of disruptive brands in the food and beverage sector, for the Ssam Sauce launch. Momofuku’s culinary lab worked with Springboard to enhance the original Ssam Sauce recipe for national distribution, as well as create the Smoky and Spicy flavors. This marks Springboard’s first partnership since launching in March 2018.
