GREENVILLE, S.C. — The Spinx Co. had an exceptional score in the sandwich-cooler portion of the revealed audit, which the company’s new grab-and-go chicken might have played a role in.

“We have worked on improving a recipe process that was already successful and been very creative on adding new products that our customers enjoy,” says Walter Zimeri, director of operations for Spinx.

The fresh food is another contributing factor to Spinx’s success in the sandwich-cooler category, Zimeri says.

“We make all our own Fresh On The Go cooler items either in house or out of our central commissary and take great pride in the product we serve ensuring taste and freshness,” he says.

Spinx, Greenville, S.C., keeps its stores clean with a cleaning and temperature-taking schedule throughout the day, according to Zimeri. The team is also trained on food safety to ensure quality products.

The chain, which operates 84 stores, places its sandwich coolers near the entrance of the store, where customers can see it while they are in line, says Zimeri.

“We try to ensure that we have great traffic flow by our product,” he says. “We feel confident that if the customer sees our product and tries our product that we will gain customer loyalty.”

The company claims itself as a food destination, and its mystery shop score has affirmed that for Zimeri.

“Customers always come first with us and our ability to satisfy our customer and exceed their expectations has led to our growth and ability to retain customers,” he says. “We have taken great pride in our food segment and devoted a lot of time, energy and investment into that piece of our business. This shop has confirmed we are on the right track and our hard work is paying off.”
